New Customer Guide for Web Site Planning
Are you ready to get started on your new web site? We are too! Here
are a few tips to help you organize your thoughts and gather
materials together, along with some of our requirements. Follow
each step, write down your answers so we can better serve
you.
Step 1: Ask yourself "What is my site going to do? What is
its purpose?"
Before we even begin thinking about what your web site will look
like, we need to know what the purpose will be. This is the most
important step, as it determines the overall design and structure
of your web site.
Step 2: Next question: are you going to be selling
online?
Selling items online doesn't need to be difficult. With some
planning, your online store can be simple to use for you and your
customers. Do you sell the same items, or do your products change?
Is everything you sell unique with a different price for each item?
Will you be selling in quantity, retail or wholesale?
Step 3: Gather all your source materials
together.
Do you have images, logos or documents that you want us to use as
source material for your site? What are the particulars for the
products you want to sell, their description, price, and photo? Do
you have special information you wish to display on your site? Do
you have digital information you want to use that is already online
or on a computer somewhere that needs gathering together for easy
access? Will your site need to interact with other web sites? All
this needs to be resolved before any work can begin on your new web
site.
Step 4: Determine your timeline.
Set a date that you want your site to go "live." We'll work
backwards from that date and schedule meetings and production
deadlines accordingly. Keep in mind, new web sites can take up to
30 days or more to develop, depending on their depth and
complexity.
Step 5: E-mail this info.
We need all this information sent to us so we can start thinking
about a concept and design for your site.
Step 6: Payment for services.
We require a 50% payment before we start working on your web site.
The remainder is due on the date your site goes "live." If you
prefer not to pay in advance, we will invoice you when work begins
on your web site.
We hope this helps you determine the scope and function of your new
web site. Thanks, and please call with any questions you may
have.
